My Razor Edge Ghia has been tucked away in my garage now for nearly two years awaiting parts and money to crack on with the sill resto on both sides.

Body parts for Type 3 Ghias are very few and far between and finding them has been a nightmare. There are very few new parts so the only options are second hand parts or NOS parts – the latter being almost impossible to find. Ebay does have a few every now and then but prices are silly: £2250 for a front panel, £400 for a wing, £500 for a bonnet…………

Having said this I have managed to find and buy a bonnet over this weekend for €30 plus postage from Germany a real result as the NOS equivalent on ebay at present is up for €599. I have all repair panels (apart from the sills themselves) including an NOS LH inner sill and NOS RH inner repair panel.

I'll be buying the sills from the KG owners club which are apparently a bit of a poor match but as the cars were all hand coach built every car is different anyway so there is always a certain amount of modification.

So 'Angel' is all booked in now at Mid Norfolk Aircooled for the sill resto to start in January 2011. My plan is for the car to be properly ready for the trip to Osnabruck in Germany to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the first Razor Ghia to role off the production line.

I can't believe my luck! I must have stepped in something recently as the guy with the €30 bonnet has also got a rear bootlid which he's letting me have for €30 also! I don't need a bootlid but for €30 I'd be stupid to turn it down. It's worth £150 easily so I'll sell that and put the money towards the resto! :-D
